Jw Facts 607

The Watchtower determines 607 B.C. as the destruction of Jerusalem by accepting the historical records used to calculate when Babylon fell, and then working back 70 years from there. Archaeologists that prove when Babylon fell are the same people that have proven Jerusalem fell in 587 B.C.

Seven Times : 607 : 1914 Daniel’s prophecy of the Seven Times is key to the existence of Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is used to determine that Jesus started ruling in 1914 and subsequently chose the Watchtower organization in 1919 to be his sole means of salvation before the battle of Armageddon.

607 BCE is the date that the Watch Tower publications pick for the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by Nebuchadnezzar. The way in which the 1914 doctrine is defined requires the date 607 BCE although a combination of Biblical and secular evidence points to 587/586 BCE as the date for that event.

Jehovah’s Witnesses arrive at the year 607 BCE for the beginning of the alleged 2,520 years based on their interpretation of scriptures that mention periods of seventy years in the Bible books of Jeremiah, Daniel, 2 Chronicles and Zechariah. They assert that their stance is to put their trust primarily in the Bible rather than to accept the word of historians.

Some Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that a website, http://www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/607/* (purportedly compiled by an individual calling himself “thirdwitness”), contains “irrefutable” proof for their 607 BCE doctrine.

According to the Watch Tower Society , October 607 BC is derived by counting back seventy years from Tishrei of 537 BC, based on their belief that Cyrus’ decree to release the Jews during his first regnal year may have been made in late 538 B.C. or before March 4–5, 537 B.C.
